The beginning of a New Year is when most of us make new resolutions to start or continue things that benefit us. I started off this year with a few resolutions and one of them is to learn about and concentrate on having a healthier lifestyle. To assist me with this process, I checked out a few colourful and informative DK books that I think everyone should read and benefit from.
I really enjoyed reading and looking through the motivating 1001 Ways to Get in Shape by Susannah Marriott. The author provides 1001 ways to get in shape that we can work into our normal lifestyle without going to the gym everyday. The emphasis is on fun, and it contains an eclectic mix of ideas from everyday situations such as brushing teeth to avoiding the urge to snack. The first step is to have a mind set to have a healthier lifestyle. Then using our imagination, assessing our aims and setting specific goals with a time line.

B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga: The Path to Holistic Health covers the complete teachings of BKS Iyengar for mind, body, and health, and is suitable for every level of yoga ability, age, and physical condition. I enjoyed the fully illustrated book that has unique 360-degree views of classic Iyengar asanas. B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga: The Path to Holistic Health includes a 20-week course introducing beginners to the most widely practiced form of yoga in the world, specially developed sequences to help alleviate more than 80 common ailments. I am looking forward to look through the book more closely and follow the instructions to expand my basic knowledge in Yoga.
Recently, I have been more interested to learn about reflexology and found this book written by Barbara and Kevin Kunz to be a comprehensive guide that teaches us how to work reflexology into your busy daily routine. The book has fully illustrated reflexology sequences for all ages and different scenarios. Using this calming, relaxing technique that is done by gentle healing through touch is known to help people forge stronger bonds with everyone in their life. This is a useful book to have and follow for everyone in the family.

I've been thinking about trying some low impact yoga to get in better shape. I'm an older woman and have a lot of hip and back problems but was told yoga might be able to help with the stiffness and pain.
ReplyDeleteI'm extremely interested in learning about reflexology.
