Disney Descendants DVD and Hasbro Descendants Collection

We enjoyed watching Descendants, which is now available on Disney DVD. My children and I saw the Descendants dolls when we went to the Hasbro Holiday Preview event, and were excited to watch this original reinvented contemporary story of classic Disney characters. It was fun to watch because the tween characters are relatable, as they go through their journey of self-discovery. This Disney DVD has bonus features as well as a cute bracelet that comes with the DVD.

The story takes place in a present day idyllic kingdom. The teenaged son of the King and Queen (Beast and Belle from Disney’s iconic “Beauty and the Beast”) is poised to take the throne. His first proclamation: offer a chance at redemption to the trouble-making offspring of Cruella de Vil, Maleficent the Evil Queen and Jafar who have been imprisoned on a forbidden island with all the other villains, sidekicks, evil step-mothers and step-sisters. These villainous descendants Carlos, Mal, Evie and Jay are allowed into the kingdom to attend prep school alongside the offspring of iconic Disney heroes, including Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and Mulan. However, the evil teens face a dilemma and wonder if they should follow in their nefarious parents’ footsteps and help all the villains regain power or embrace their innate goodness and save the kingdom.

We liked the colourful costumes in the scenes. There were few songs and dance acts that my children enjoyed. We like the morale of the story that we all have the choice to be either good or bad and it not predestined based on who are parents are and the families we are born into.

Hasbro has an array of dolls and accessories based on Disney’s Descendants that children will enjoy playing with and talking  about the journey of good versus evil, friendship and working together to save the kingdom. The Descendants product line features dolls and accessories from the offspring of Disney villains, Maleficent, the Evil Queen Jafar and Cruella de Vil as well as the teenage children of Disney’s heroes Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty, Fairy Godmother, Mulan and more.
