This project is a fun way to recycle old CDs and use it for home decor. We love how the colours catch the sunlight during the day and create beautiful reflections in the room. This splash of colour and design on the CDs add interest to a boring space.
For this project you will need
old CDs
marker to draw the design
colourful paper to cover the non shiny side of the CD
DecoArt glass stains in different colours
clear jewelry cord and glue gun
embroidery ring or a wooden branch to hang the CDs
First, draw the design using a marker. Then use glass leading and paint the outline. Once the thick glass leading dries, use different colours of glass stain to fill the sections.
Let one colour dry before adding another colour beside it or this may bleed into the nearby colours.
Instead of scratching off the print on one side of the CD that has words and images on, we used decorative paper and covered it.
To hang the CDs onto the embroidery hoop, we tied clear jewelry cord to one end of the hoop and used glue gun to secure the hanging end of the cord to the back of the CDs instead of piercing holes to the CDs. You can also tie the CDs to a decorative wooden branch.
This is a fun way to use up old CDs and hang it in a room filled with sunlight! It is a delight to see the colours shining when the light hits the CDs.
