On Beyond Bugs is an educational digital book about insects from The Cat in the Hat's Learning Library series. I recommend this fun, fact-filled app that will benefit our children.
In this book Cat in the Hat gives us a tour and teaches us about insects. We can learn about fascinating six-legged creatures, from butterflies and crickets to fireflies and honeybees that inhabit our environment and make everything better for the world around us. My children enjoy learning and reading this book, as they learn to rhyme, discover how insects see, smell, communicate and pollinate.
I like the pop-up detailed definitions of the words come up throughout the story when we tap on it. These instant glossaries of the words help children learn facts and make it easy for us to explain about the insects. My son enjoyed the funny interactive information that was in this book.
One day when an ant went by my son told his dad, "be-careful of the ant and don't hurt it because the ant is probably looking for food and his family will be looking for him since ants live in big families."My husband asked him, "when did you become a bug expert?" and he said, "from Dr. Seuss."
Another wonderful collection of digital books that children will enjoy is the Little Critter Collection by Mercer Mayer. The stories in this collection have heart-warming stories that children can relate to. My children found the stories in this collection to be funny and like reading them.
