Hydration, daily exercise, a good night’s sleep and proper nutrition are all part of the equation when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle. After all our bodies are mainly made with water, and we all know without water no living thing can exist.
Staying hydrated is very important to my family and I, so we follow the wisdom and Islamic etiquette of drinking water to stay healthy.
Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) has taught us to drink water in three sips and not in one gulp. We are told not to breath into the cup/bottle when drinking the water as it releases carbon dioxide that could cause bad smell or allow spit to go in, which is injurious to our health. We also sit while drinking water and mention the name of God (by saying Bismillah) and then praise God once we finish (by saying Al hamdu lillah).

I remember my elders have repeatedly encouraged and reminded me of the importance of drinking water and keeping myself hydrated. My grandmother used to always tell that drinking lots of water will reflect on our skin to have good healthy skin and will make us feel happy. I tend to repeat this wisdom to my children all the time :)
