Fun Felt Owl Inspired By The Crafty Creatures Book

The Crafty Creatures book is very inspiring because of its colourful images and step-by-step instructions. I like how the author, Jane Bull shows how felt and cloth can be used to sew and knit a variety of fun, cute, wooly animals that children will enjoy playing with. There are many projects in this book I have bookmarked to try. We made this Fun Felt Owl from the book.

  1. First, I traced the owl.
  2. Then I transferred the shape of the owl onto the felt material and cut two owl shapes.
  3. I cut the decorative face part and two circles for the eyes and stitched it by hand to one of the felt pieces.
  4. After stitching the decorative part, I attached the two brown owl shapes together and left an opening to insert cotton filling. After inserting the filling I stitched the two pieces together.
To hang the owl I used the same thread and attached one end to the owl and the other to the hanging surface. This felt owl can be hung decoratively on a branch with other felt critters and creatures or hung securely on bag zippers.
