My children and I checked out a few children's books that are educational and fun to read. Ru-lan is a fun and exciting series of books about a special young prince born in the kingdom of Lǒu. The descriptions and details in the story makes these picture books fun for both children and adults to read independently or as a group. We enjoyed how the author, Larry Bennett brings together the human world and the animal kingdom together in the stories.
The illustrations by Basia Tov bring the details alive. The adventures of Ru-lan teaches children many values such as compassion, empathy, loyalty, and friendship, while introducing the children to interesting aspects of the Chinese culture. We are looking forward to read the adventure of Ru-lan as it continues.

Dozi the Alligator Finds a Family is the first book in the upcoming series of Dozi the Alligator books written by Daniel Boris and illustrated by Nicola Sammarco. The stories based in Southern USA are a good reads for young children. The story encourages children to predict about what will happen to Dozi during her adventures.
My children are looking forward to read the Pug on Wheels written by Linda Simon, and look through the illustration of Jay Jacoby. Pug on Wheels tells the story of a young boy, Josh, and his introduction to a special pug named Sadie. Josh learns the value of friendship, empathy and eventually love, as he finds that wonderful things can come in a variety of packages and that a rescued pet can be enormously rewarding for all those involved.
These books would make wonderful gifts for any child for any occasion.
