Holiday Crafting with Washi Tape

As the holiday season and winter approaches, I get excited about doing crafts! I got a chance to check out Amy Anderson's Washi Tape Crafts: 110 Ways to Decorate Just About Anything book. This is a fabulous book for savvy crafters and non-crafters alike. I love that the book comes with ten rolls of tape (18 feet each) custom-designed patterns made especially for this book so we can get started on the 110 projects that are in this book!
The project includes everything from one-of-a-kind gifts, home decor, jewelry to holidays and celebrations. The book teaches key techniques like precision tearing, wrapping, and weaving, and how to make bows, rosettes, and other shapes. It also says how to seal and weatherproof designs to make them more permanent.
Washi tape is endlessly versatile because it is fun, removable, and easy to use. The projects in this book inspires us to use Washi tape to design coasters, create faux wallpaper, brighten up a chair, make fluttery feather napkin rings, and many more. We can also use it to dress up notebooks and binders, pencils and other tools, fashion a clutch, make a statement ring, and add flair to any of our belonging.
Washi Tape Crafts is a complete kit perfect for children, teen, and adults because there’s a Washi tape project for everyone and everything. All we have to do is peel, stick, and create!
I also checked out the The Complete Book of Chalk Lettering: Create and Develop Your Own Style book by Valerie McKeehan, which is a whimsical, creative guide to mastering hand-drawn chalk designs. The art of chalk lettering has become a favoured style for home and wedding décor, and can be found everywhere, from cafés and boutiques to stationery.
The book includes more than 60 lessons, beginning with the basic letterforms to more advanced designs. Projects in the book include party invitations, greeting cards, welcome signs, and more. I like that we can use the inside cover and foldout back cover that are lined with blackboard paper as a practice space for our designs.
There is a tutorial in basic lettering styles, it teaches about creating shadows, dimensions, and a wide range of fonts. We can also learn to master banners, borders, and embellishments, including laurels, hearts, and daisies. From simple to ornate, these core elements will make our hand-lettering stand out. There are 12 projects, which include greeting cards, holiday-themed designs, and more. This book is for anyone who likes drawning designs.
