I find when we go on long trips, both children and adults always need to be engaged in something new and exciting. The redesigned​ collection of compact DK Pocket Genius paperback books are wonderful to take when travelling or to use at home or school for browsing and quick reference.

The stunning images, ​bite-size chunks of text​, ​and engaging at-a-glance information is what we like about the Pocket Genius paperback books. There are lots of fun facts, which we enjoyed learning about. I like that there is just enough information to make the reader stay curious and engaged. 
I like that the information is presented in a simple to understand format, which allows children to grasp the concepts easily. Each book priced at $6 will come in handy during research or when travelling.

Another wonderful free online resource for children 7 to 11 years is the dkfindout.com website. This age appropriate, animated website covers content in science, mathematics, English, history, geography, and the human body. I like how this site considers different learning methods and includes reading material as well as visual information such as videos, animations, sounds, and photographs. The content can be accessed through all devices.
This is a safe online engine for children to explore and learn from. I like that the design is simple and clear, so children can obtain information easily. Each screen explains a concept, and has clickable text definitions, captions, and annotations. I like that the information smoothly encourages cross curricular learning. There are quizzes that children can take to test their knowledge.

    I am in BC. I really like the DK Findout, easy for the kids to use and choose! The 5 i would love are ..Forces and motion,crystals and gems,rocks and minerals,7 wonders of the world,and Structure of the Earth.

    I'm in Ontario, and I think both of my kids would love these books because they are both talking about some of the topics of the books. I'd choose for them the Science, Human body, Space, Dinosaurs, and Ancient Egypt books.
