19th year of TIFF Kids International Film Festival will be happening from April 8 to 24 at TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto. TIFF Kids is one of the largest children's film festivals in the world that feature films and collections of short films from both Canadian and international filmmakers.
The films and shorts use a diverse selection of mediums from live action to stop animation. We enjoy watching these films because of how cool the stories are presented, and how real life issues and topics are presented to children in a way that opens their minds and allows discussions. TIFF Kids prices for Adults is $13, Student/Senior $10.50 and Children (13 and under) $9.

The TIFF Kids Festival kicks off on Opening Night with the Toronto premiere of Oddball, a heartwarming, comedic feature based on a true story about a chicken farmer, his granddaughter and their mischievous dog saving fairy penguins from extinction in an Australian seaside town. Opening Night Film and Party cost is $35 per person.
We enjoyed watching films and shorts such as Home Sweet Home and Spill. Home Sweet Home presents how the 10 year old Salimah adjusts to life with her father in Denmark, and reminds us that there is no place like the feeling of home. We also enjoyed watching Spill, which teaches us to remember that we can use our knowledge to overcome barriers like bullies without fighting. Spill also reminded my husband and I of growing up, playing and collecting marbles.
The festival wraps with its Closing Night film, the Canadian premiere of Little Door Gods, a beautifully animated 3D film from first-time feature director Gary Wang that was inspired by Chinese folklore. Premium Screenings (Closing Night Film and Special Events) $20 per person.
While you plan a visit to TIFF, do check out their cool digiPlaySpace which will be open and tickets can be purchased in a combo package, which includes an entry for a TIFF Kids screening and entry into digi. Ticket combo packages are $15 for children and $20 for adults.
