During the past few weeks, my family and I have been monitoring our water intake as part of our overall wellness goals to make healthier hydration choices. Healthy hydration is helping us with our food goals to watch what we eat more closely. We are also rethinking our routines through the day to ensure we include proper rest into our day.
Our plan to make a schedule to monitor our water intake daily has helped our family understand the need to drink more water. This tracking sheet has allowed us to intentionally drink water. Our children have made it a competition to track who drinks more water every day.
We have also made sure to keep water more accessible to remind us to drink it. We felt most often the reason we did not consume enough water was because it was not in a reachable distance, and we felt lazy to get up and get a cup of water. We make sure to keep water bottles always in reach, so we can drink water more often. Keeping a water bottles close by when we are having our meals helps us drink more than a cup of water in-between and after our meals. We have noticed that our intention to drink water and be hydrated is helping with our water in-take.
The healthy hydration change we are making is helping us with our goals to eat healthier and more importantly to watch what we eat. We found sometimes instead of reaching for water when we feel thirsty, we try to overcome thirst by reaching for sugar filled beverages, cookies, and sweets that actually hinders our plans to be healthy and adds to calorie intake. Since we started this intentional choice of healthy hydration, we are drinking more water and recognizing the importance of water for our health. We have agreed that drinking water is a calorie-free way to satisfy our thirst and that it helps with our food goals.
We have also made it a point to include rest in our daily routine. During these planned rest times, I sip and relax with a cup of warm water infused with different types of detoxing tea and herbs. This routine is helping me feel refreshed, as well as helping me keep my body warm especially during these cool winter days.
This lifestyle change to #DrinkBetterLiveBetter by consuming more water is helping us with our food, rest and routine goals. For some great ways you can incorporate water into a healthy lifestyle visit Today's Parent.
