Rekindling the love for painting and drawing

We love books that rekindle our love for painting and drawing. We have checked out a few books that inspires both beginning and advanced artists. The techniques and tips mentioned in these books are a real inspiration to start drawing and painting with a variety of medium. 

Artist's Drawing Techniques is a practical guide to learn how to draw with pencils, charcoal, pens, and pastels. This book will help develop skills using these different medium. The book helps understand how to choose and observe a subject, then figure out the composition, and sketch. After learning this basic principles we can learn to master more than 80 techniques, from shading to blending to perspective to cross-hatching using a variety of tools, materials, and methods mentioned in this book. 

Artist's Painting Techniques is a guide that teaches how to bring out our inner artist with a wide range of painting styles using acrylics, watercolours, and oil paints. Similar to the drawing book in this series it explains how we can use the tools, materials, and methods to develop our skills. 

Creative Approaches to Painting by Marjorie Sarnat helps find inspiration with more than 200 ideas for painting. Students, teachers, and professionals alike can benefit from this guide, which suggests resourceful concepts for paintings. In addition to tips on ways to organize ideas, it proposes unusual methods with innovative materials and offers advice, answers, and techniques for artists of every style.

Modern Calligraphy by Lucy Edmonds is loosely based on the 2,000-year-old Copperplate style. This book inspires us to develop our own hand lettering style. Even if we think we are not creative or have poor handwriting, this illustrated guide and regular practice will help us enjoy a new form of self-expression. Step-by-step approach with tips, tricks, and techniques for beginners, starts off with advice on materials and basic exercises and then advances to uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, symbols, and brush calligraphy. The practice pages with dotted lines will help perfect the technique. We can learn how to make our own inks, and add elegant personal touch to envelope-addressing, invitations, dinner party menus, and gift tags.

Modern Acrylic helps us discover simple concepts and painting techniques to create exciting and expressive works of art. Modern Acrylic encourages playfulness in art for a fun, colourful, and accessible painting experience. We can learn to paint flowers, animals, patterns, and how to transfer hand-lettering skills to paint. This guide offers a lively and creative approach to acrylic paint packed with inspiring exercises and whimsical projects.

The other two books in this series Modern Drawing and Modern Watercolor similar to the Acrylic book explains the basics, and shows how we can use these mediums to practice and advance our skills.
