We believe knowing more than one language is a gift, it makes you better understand everything around you and appreciate it more. It is never too late to learn a new language - so we checked out a few DK Language titles. Each of these books have a similar format so we can spend 15 minutes each day, and learn to speak, write, and understand in 12 weeks.
"Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things." ‒ Flora Lewis
Living in a multi-cultural country, and travel becoming much easier in the 21st century, we believe knowing different languages has become important and beneficial for positive experiences. With this fun, user-friendly, and uniquely visual language course, we can teach ourself new languages in 12 weeks.
DK's 15 Minute language books have been relaunched with a new free audio app. There are twelve themed chapters broken down into easy-to-follow 15-minute daily lessons, spanning a range of practical themes, including socializing, doing business, food and drink, travel, and shopping. Each lesson combines vocabulary and grammar essentials with attractive full colour photographs, making it quick, easy, and fun to learn new vocabulary. There is no writing or homework we can simply use the cover flaps to hide the answers to exercises and test ourselves as we learn. Each chapter ends with a review module to help keep track of our progress and identify areas where we may need further practice.
The DK 15 Minute audio app, available for Apple (from the App Store) and Android (from Google Play), enables us to hear words and phrases spoken by native speakers. Download the app and scan in the book's barcode. Once we unlock our book and downloaded the audio files, we can enter any page number to find the word or phrase we are looking for to help improve our pronunciation. We can record ourself, compare with native speakers, and re-record as desired. Using the app alongside the book helps with learning the pronunciation, and practice conversations. 15 Minute DK Language titles make it easier to learn these languages - Japanese, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Mandarin, Spanish.
We checked out the Arabic-English Bilingual Visual Dictionary, which comes with a free companion audio app that allows readers to scan the pages to hear words spoken in both Arabic and English. The vocabulary is introduced in a thematic order with colour photographs and artworks to display and label all the elements of everyday life-from the home and office to sport, music, nature, and the countries of the world-with panel features on key nouns, verbs, and useful phrases.
