We are very excited about Cirque du Soleil's Alegria coming to Toronto! And thrilled to be partnering with Cirque du Soleil to offer our readers a chance to win two tickets to watch the show at Ontario Place any day between September 12th to November 24th, 2019. In the previous years, we watched Volta and Corteo, both awesome and unique shows.
Alegria is one of Cirque du Soleil's most iconic productions that helped to launch the company internationally. The show first premiered in 1994 and was seen by more than 14 million spectators worldwide over the course of its 19-year run and now, for the first time ever, Cirque du Soleil has created a distinctive new version of the show in time for the show's 25th anniversary. The classic power struggle of old meets new has been reinterpreted through today's lens, keeping its signature songs, acrobatics and archetypal characters that have helped define the Cirque du Soleil aesthetic. Alegria has now been reinterpreted for the age to inspire fans, devoted and new alike.
This timeless story of resilience and hope has themes such as the quest for power, the thirst for change, and the triumph of light over darkness.
Synopsis:
The king of fools attempts to take the throne (all that glitters is not gold, as once the glorious kingdom now in decay). But when a spark of life shines, shaking the foundations of the old order, a resilient new movement emerges from the heart of the kingdom, carried by an invigorating wind of change, and driven by a hunger for a brighter world.
Acrobatic performances will include:
