Recently, we experimented using DecoArt Pouring Medium. We tried the pouring medium method in different ways on a variety of surfaces such as canvas, ceramic tiles, and rocks. This pouring medium increases the fluidity of acrylic paint, making it easy and fun for pouring art.
This fluid additive is specially formulated to enable paint to flow easily across different surfaces. It thins the paint to the ideal consistency, creates cell effects, and reduces cracking and crazing. It does not slow down the drying time, alter the colour, or lessen the adhesion of paint. This medium is water-based and non-yellowing. We found that it is better to wear gloves when doing this type of painting project.
When the pouring medium is mixed with Americana Acrylics or DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics it can be used to create stunning effects on a variety of art surfaces such as wood. We mostly used 1:1 ratio, and found that the ratios can be adjusted for a variety of effects.
There are lots of different methods of doing pouring so check this link for details.
Once the paint dried, we poured the Clear Pouring Topcoat. This top coat has a lacquer like layer of thickness, and gives a high-end finished look to the surfaces. Each tile we poured look different and unique, as it depends on how the paint combine together.
The topcoat is used for decorative purposes only! If you use this optional coating, it takes time to cure fully depending on the drying conditions and climate.
