We love learning from DK books! The wide variety of DK books from different subjects interests us because they are colourful and have an abundance of facts written in an inspiring way. Here are a few of our recent favourite books from DK Canada - Explanatorium of Science, Through the Animal Kingdom, and Tech Lab.
Explanatorium of Science makes science fun. It is easy to understand how mixtures merge and matter changes state, discover how some chemical changes can be reversed, yet others can't, and why some reactions happen with a bang, learn how bacteria works, and understand the human digestive system. There is also information about light and electricity.
Whether it's elements, evolution, or energy, the world of science is brought to life by stunning photographic explanations that answer the biggest and smallest questions about our universe.

Through the Animal Kingdom takes us on a journey through different habitats to discover the secret lives of the animals that live there. From frigid mountain peaks, to vast deserts, lush forests, and the deepest, darkest ocean, is a place incredible animals call home.
This colourful book tracks a bald eagle as it soars majestically over the Rocky Mountains, follow migrating wildebeests across the Serengeti as they attempt a dangerous river crossing under the watchful eye of hungry predators, traces the tracks of the solitary amur leopard, the rarest cat on Earth, as it stalks its prey through the icy forests of the Siberian wilderness, and more.

Tech Lab will engage budding scientists and engineers ages 11 to 14 years as they experiment, invent, trial, and test technology, electronics, and mechanics at home. The book has exciting, educational activities and projects that focus on electronics and technology such as how to power a propellor motorboat, make a thermoelectric phone charger, build a set of speakers, construct a crane, and more by following step-by-step instructions and using affordable equipment. We like that the low cost projects have step-by-step explanation with photographs. The fact-filled panels explain the science behind the project and relate it to real world examples.
