With more time spent at home these days, reading on the Kobo has a been a source of comfort for us. Everyone in our family loves reading regularly on the Kobo - and we are happy to welcome the newly released Kobo Nia into our family! Kobo Nia is an affordable, compact, easy to use device with lots of cool features for our reading comfort!
Having the ability to change the font face, size, line spacing, margins, and justification to fit our preference makes a huge difference on why we love reading on Kobo eReaders. Kobo Nia has built-in ComfortLight for better day or night time reading, as we can easily adjust the brightness
of the screen by sliding our finger along
the left-hand side of the screen or using the brightness control to perfectly suit any reading situation.
We love the sleek, compact, modern design of this Kobo! It is 112.4 mm wide x 159.3 mm long, with a 9.2 mm thick area around the edges. What's not to love about a device that is lightweight, weighing at 172 grams, which can hold up to 6000 books! It is the perfect size to hold and handle. The 6" Carta E Ink glare-free touchscreen has a 1024 x 758 212 ppi resolution. The device's E Ink touchscreen displays crisp-clear fonts that replicate a print on paper reading experience. The electronic ink screen has many benefits, including being easier on the eyes compared to smartphone and tablet LCD screens. The glare-free display allows for endless summer days of reading even in direct sunlight making it a perfect way to spend time in the garden!

Since Kobo Nia has a 1,000 mAh battery, we can keep reading for several days without charging it, this depends on individual usage. There is a micro USB charging port accessible with the SleepCover for easy charging. The Kobo Nia is Wi-Fi enabled,
and complete with a NXP i.MX 6ULL processor
with 256 MB of ram and 8 GB of storage. This allows it to handle regular tasks such as flipping pages, looking up unfamiliar words we come across in the book with the built-in dictionary or on Wikipedia and Google, borrowing books from Overdrive, using Kobo Plus, and more. Once the books are loaded in the Kobo, it doesn't require Wifi, so we can read anytime, anywhere. Similar to other Kobo readers, Kobo Nia gives us the ability to highlight and add notes.
We love that we can simply put the eReader away and pick up reading from where we left off as Kobo Nia has enhanced eBook navigation that provides increased awareness of which page we are reading, allowing us to seamlessly skim an entire book, jump to a new location, or go back to the original page.
There are three faux-leather SleepCover options available in Black, Aqua and Lemon. We love the bright colour options for the covers, it brings out the excitement and joy of reading! The SleepCover doesn't only look good aesthetically, but also protects the eReader and its magnetic cover wakes and puts it to sleep when we close it.
Kobo Nia has a budget-friendly price point at $129.99 CAD without compromising the features normally found on Rakuten Kobo's premium devices perfect for those looking to purchase their first digital eReader.
Borrow books for free...
With an active library card, we can easily borrow eBooks from most local public libraries for free right from the device with
built-in one-touch OverDrive access. Through the
integrated catalogue, we can search for the title and depending on local
library availability choose to borrow from OverDrive. We have been borrowing several books from our library. We can also browse the catalogue, place holds, and even get notifications when an e-book becomes available to borrow. Once a book has been borrowed it shows up under my books. OverDrive integration is available in Canada, the US, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
We can also own the books, by purchasing ebooks through the Kobo Store.
Subscribe for unlimited reading...
