Art, Space, Spies and Giveaway

We have been reading two DK's Visual Encyclopedias to gain knowledge about different types of Art and to ponder about Space. We have also been learning about the history of spies from Ultimate Spy. 

Ultimate Spy is an insider's guide to the secret world of espionage written by Keith Melton. This book gives a lot of details about the history of spies, high-tech spy gadgets, and aspects of spy craft from surveillance to assassination. This updated edition includes entries on spy cases, the role of technology, and more filled with photographs that show details of equipment such as spy cams, bugs, weapons, and drone aircraft. 

The book also includes who could be spies, how spies are recruited, trained, and the tricks of this trade, as well as how spies were part of different wars, what happens when spies get caught, spy networks, and more. 

A glossary explains abbreviations of important intelligence and security organizations and defines many common terms used in espionage. From early espionage to the latest high-tech spy equipment, Ultimate Spy will be enjoyed by mystery lovers, tech fans, and anyone who wants to know how modern spy craft works.

Space: A Visual Encyclopedia presents the entire Universe in one stunning book. Our Solar System is full of wonders, which makes it is an amazing subject to study. This book has sharp images from NASA missions, as well as exclusive interviews and incredible facts to explain what we observe, the different things humans send off to space, humans in space, the solar system, earth, the moon, the sun, and about stars and stargazing.    

Since we won't all get the opportunity to travel and see outer space for ourselves, it is really cool to see how it would look and understand how it would feel to be an astronaut or wonder about things like how rocky the red surface of Mars would be through this detailed, colourful book. 

The Arts: A Visual Encyclopedia it gives an insight into different types of art from painting, sculpture, photography, music to dance. The book covers the history of these arts, and how it has changed over time and features the lives of different painters, sculptors, and photographers. We like that the book has lots of images and just enough writing and examples to explain topics to make it interesting to flip each page.   

From the first strokes of paint on prehistoric caves to contemporary street art in the 21st century, every artistic style and movement is explored and explained in stunning detail. Many best loved pieces of art are showcased in iconic images. 

Both the Space and Arts are from DK's Visual Encyclopedias series that are designed to excite and entertain, while offering a comprehensive overview of core subjects especially for young children. From science and the human body to animals, the ocean, space, and more, each book combines fun facts, amazing pictures, and crystal-clear explanations.
