Although a big part of traveling is to get away from the everyday routine, it is important to try and stay involved and in the loop while away. Whether it’s missing opportunities in the workplace or big family news, it is easy to feel out of the loop when travelling if we don't make the effort to stay updated.
Here are a few tips to stay in the loop even when travelling.
Stay In Touch With Work
Whether you have left your job to travel, are taking a career break, or having a gap year, it is still important to make sure you are up to date with everything that is going on with work. This doesn’t mean you need to be checking your emails on a daily basis, or even a weekly basis, but you should make the effort to stay in the loop. Talk to your manager and ask for any changes or opportunities to be sent through to your personal email, make sure you look for new opportunities that may be too good to miss on career websites and ask family and friends to let you know if they hear of anything coming up. There is no reason why you can’t attend an interview in person.
Keep Your Personal Admin Upto Date
You may not think that there is much that you need to sort out on the admin side of things, however, when you return to a huge pile of letters to sift through you will be wishing you sorted something out while you were traveling. Maybe you have someone you trust open your mail for you and let you know if anything needs sorting, or maybe a virtual mailbox such as those at https://physicaladdress.com would be better. Either way, you will be pleased to do it as you travel rather than when you are back.
Stay In Touch
This is one of the most important things you can do when it comes to staying in the loop with family and friends. They are your connection to keeping up with everything that is going on. Whether your cousin is getting married, someone has passed away, or your sister is pregnant, you will be able to stay up to date with everything that is important by just staying in touch. Think about the best ways people like to chat. For most, it will be via video call or messenger, but for those who don’t use tech, you may need to consider weighing up the costs of being able to make a call.
These are three simple ways for you the stay in the loop while traveling. Share some of your tips in the comments on what you do to make sure you’re all caught up when travelling.
