Elora, Ontario just under two hours from Toronto is a beautiful place for a summer day trip. It is known for its 19th century limestone quarry, bridges, and the gorge. It is a picturesque tourist area.
Since Elora has become a popular, parking can be challenging so go early to enjoy this small town. Parking around the city is free, but park legally, not on grass or blocking driveways, to avoid getting tickets.
The limestone quarry looks wonderful against the Grand River and tree topped cliffs. It was fun walking around and exploring the different shops including the Elora Mews and restaurants.
The pedestrian bridge, Jack R MacDonald Bridge, is close to Elora Mill and has a nice view of the mill. The mill has been converted to an hotel and spa.
There are some interesting sculptures such as the Tall Man sculpture, and an area with seating around the green space.
We did the short hikes at Victoria Park, which is in the middle of downtown Elora. We enjoyed the different views of the gorge from this park. There is a nice lookout point. We can also walk down a stone stairway to see the gorge. Many people were choosing to wet their feet.

Bissell Park has a long boardwalk that follows the river, which leads to a bridge that has a nice view of the river. There is a playground, washrooms, and lots of picnic spaces and tables. On Saturdays, this park has a farmers market.
If you enjoy art, stop by Elora Centre for the arts in front of Bissell Park. We saw a few artists at work.

If you enjoy tubing, you can do this exciting activity by entering the area through the Elora Gorge Conservation Area by paying a park fee. There are also have kayak tours. It is best to check their website and book online before going.
