Since we didn't travel last summer, we had time to pay attention to the lavender plants we planted a couple of summers ago. We harvested the flowers, bundled, and dried it to make sachets and to make different desserts.

We had this DIY stencil wall for about three years now and wanted to change the look of this room by adding more indoor plants. With the indoor plants hanging the wall looked a little crowded, so we changed it up with this easy and fun colour wash technique. We find that it is fun to add our unique touches to home decor pieces. The process and the final results of these conversational pieces always excite us, and give a feeling of satisfaction. This summer we decided to add a couple of bird houses that we made to the garden, as we had a variety of different birds that come to the bird feeder. 

Using Stencil and Textured Dimensional Paint for DIY Focal Wall

Adding this textured stencil art instantly changed our space! We did this stencil art using the American decor tropical leaves and Americana Decor Texture in Meadow Green paint. Now, this space has a focal point and an added interest.

I used the steps from the book Ten-Step Drawing: Flowers by Mary Woodin to draw the water lily flowers and customize pillowcases and a bed sheet. For the paint, I used the SoSoft Fabric paint from DecoArt.

Fabric painting is a fun technique to use on clothes to add unique designs. For this cushion cover project, I chose to do a bright poppy flower inspired cover.

We changed a wall space in our home using the Moroccan Tile Stencil from DecoArt. These washable and reusable 18" x 18" stencils are a fun way to add colour to any surface from walls to rugs and furniture. The stencils are available in different sizes, so we can use it on different surfaces for both small and large projects.
